Have you seen all of the amazing drawings of our dragons? Have you ever wondered what they looked like before the finished article you see on our website? With the help of Mike Spiers Illustrations, Dragon Zoo has been able to show you many great dragons over the past 12 months. The Welsh Inferno, The Scottish Sea Dragon, The English Tyrant, The South American Fish Hunter to name a few.
All of these incredible dragons have been drawn from the descriptions of those that have sighted them in the wild. Vague descriptions such as “It had purple scales and rolls of thick blubbery fat like a seal” ended up being sketched as The Pudge dragon which you can see a preview of below.

Thanks to the great artistic talents of Mike Spiers Illustrations, the Dragon Zoo website has continued to grow and develop. The zoo map which shows the locations and pens of our dragons was provided, as was the hunt for dragons eggs and colour your own dragon from the Dragon Zoo Games Zone.
If you would like any artwork drawn, anything from creatures, cartoons, comics, logo’s, to website designs can be provided by Mike Spiers Illustrations. Our dragons have been brought to life through an incredible design process that started, quite simply, with pencil and paper.
Take a look at the life of Dragon Zoo’s latest dragons as we show how they grow from initial sketch to finished design. Dragons have never looked so unique or been so exciting and it’s all thanks to the fans out there that spot the dragons in the wild, your fantastic descriptions and observations on their environment and behaviour, and the skills of Mike Spiers Illustrations to show the world our artistic impression of the dragons.
With the assistance of Mike Spiers Illustrations you can also look forward to a much needed re-design of the Dragon Zoo official website. So keep checking back and keep your reports of dragons coming in. Who knows, in another 12 months we might have a whole collection of crazy new dragons, as seen in some of the sketches below.

This is a great image of one of our latest dragons, The Dragon Fowl. This dragon has been sketched on drawing paper, scanned into PC then coloured using a sketchbook art application. This is a preliminary drawing before the art is finalised into the professional finished image in Adobe Illustrator.
If you need any images creating, anything from cartoon characters like ours to professional company logos, visit Mike Spiers Illustrations here to get your art project underway today!
(You may also catch a sneak peak of one of our forest dwelling dragons too!)
