Dragon News is all for doing crazy things for charity to help out those in need. In the past we've done sponsored silences, mountain walks and bike rides, but this? Nope, we've never done anything close to a high wire walk!

On February 28th 2011 the plucky Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton did a challenge to make even the bravest of people wince with fear. Helen walked along a tight rope that was the width of approx. 2cm, suspended 217ft between two of the four chimneys at Battersea Power Station! How incredible is that?

There are only two things that could make this stunt more risky. Have Helen walking over one of our dragon pens OR remove the safety wire. Either way, it's a pretty darn challenging task and one that we woudn't be caught doing!

The presenter took 11 minutes to cross between the two chimneys and she did this successfully without falling! This was one impressive feat considering she only trained for two months to learn how to tight rope walk and the conditions were far from perfect. The day she walked at Battersea Power Station, Helen had to face up to the wind and the fact that one of her contact lenses fell out during the stunt!

Dragon Zoo would like to congratulate the presenter on such a daring challenge that was attempted and completed successfully, all in the name of the Red Nose Day Charity! Helen is no stranger to daring feats for charity, only last year she successfully kayacked up the entire Amazon River to raise funds. What ever will she be doing next year?
