Magic The Gathering: Dragons of Tarkir Review


Magic the Gathering is treating dragon fans the world over with a brand new 264 trading card game set due for release on March 21st 2015.

If you’re a Magic the Gathering player, you’ll probably already be snapping up the Khans of Tarkir cards, and this, the Dragons of Tarkir, is the third set in this block.



As usual, the cards have phenomenal art the likes of which you’ll be accustomed to if you’re a regular Magic the Gathering player. But seeing as Dragon Zoo is particularly fond of everything dragons, its cards such as the ones below which we particularly love:

With both Khans of Tarkir and Fate Reforged already released over the last seven months, this third and final block in the series promises to be the best out of the three. With more dragons, more action, and a thrilling conclusion to what has been an engaging story from this series so far.

The story of this Magic the Gathering is based upon the plane of Tarkir which was once a hive of activity, dragon activity. However, following a mammoth war, the dragons were completely wiped out. The lead character in this series, Sarkhan Vol, travels back in time to before the destruction of the dragons in the Fate Reforged expansion set before returning to present day Tarkir and finding all human life on the verge of extinction from the marauding dragons in the Dragons of Tarkir set.

With an elaborate and engaging storyline, amazing artwork and four new game mechanics (Rebound, Megamorph, Formidable and Exploit), Dragons of Tarkir looks set to be one of Magic the Gathering’s very best. Now if only we could find a kick ass trailer which featured loads of CGI and dragons…
