Frequently Asked Questions About Dragon Zoo

dragon zoo egg Where is Dragon Zoo?

Dragon Zoo is located at the site of Battersea Power Station in London, England. It will be the biggest zoo with the best animals in Europe. An amazing day out for the entire family!

Why Battersea Power Station?

Battersea Power Station is one of the most iconic buildings in London. It has been featured in many media projects over the years including, Pink Floyd's album cover - Animals, The Beatles movie - Help!, Batman - The Dark Knight, Superman 3 and many others. It ceased in its primary purpose as a power station on October 31st 1983 and has since been linked with many redevelopment projects. The interior of the powerstation is so large that a fully grown adult Welsh dragon can easily be stored inside. The powerstation is in much need of renovation with a new roof required and development of the surrounding area. Dragon Zoo is the perfect project to not only regenerate the area, but create one of the world's most amazing theme parks/zoos/days out for all the family. Here in London!

What is there to do at Dragon Zoo?

At dragon zoo we're not just about looking at animals in their pens. We have lots of things to see and do! For one you can look inside the newly renovated Battersea Power Station with new glass roof! The main building is home to our adult Welsh dragon that Lucy Arnold discovered on Snowdon as well as the younger residents in our zoo that aren't ready to join the outdoor zones. You can explore the myth, legends and stories of dragons amongst our many exhibitions inside the main building. At present we have two zones within the complex revealed, the Fire Zone and the Water Zone. The Water Zone includes a viewing platform with protective glass on a dock where you can look down into the Thames and see the Scottish Marine Dragons. In the Fire Zone is the English Dragon, a large pale white dragon with huge red wings!

We've also got an all new exciting rollercoaster called the Dragons Tail! Hold on tight in your carriage as the tail thrashes, whips and crashes you around the track in a great ride for thrillseekers!

Once you've seen the dragons why not relax and have a bite to eat in our amazing new restaurant? The Flames Restaurant at Dragon Zoo has a great selection of food and exciting events for all the family. You can also turn your visit into a weekend break by stopping in our great new flagship hotel, The Dragons Nest. With great deals, fantastic vistas of the park and fun dragon themed rooms the hotel will prove to be a must part of your dragon zoo adventure!

The park is accessible for everyone! The zones, restaurant, hotel and the main zoo all have disabled access so that no one misses out on the fun.

Where can I buy tickets?

Unfortunately the park isn't yet open to the general public and so tickets aren't on general sale.

So when is the park opening?

At this moment in time we're not certain. We have the plan, the website and the dragons and we're currently awaiting approval. We will keep you up to date as to the parks progress via the official website and facebook group, dragon zoo.

Do dragons really exist?

Yes they do! Lucy Arnold was on a walking trip with her parents three years ago when she found her first dragon egg. You can read the story at http://dragon-zoo.blogspot.com. Since her first accidental discovery she has been searching for dragon eggs across the United Kingdom to bring to Dragon Zoo!

How many dragons do you have?

We currently have 5 dragons from 3 different countries. These will be located as follows:

English Dragon - Fire Zone

Welsh Dragon - Main Zoo (adult and one infant)

Scottish Dragon - Water Zone (marine dragon with infant in main zoo)

At present these dragons are being cared for by Lucy Arnold in a secret location before they can be put in their new home at the zoo when it opens!

Will you be getting more dragons?

Lucy is currently very busy with looking after the dragons we have at the moment. Once we are moved into the zoo and we have time and space Lucy has hinted that she may go on the search for dragon eggs in other countries. Stay tuned to her blog and facebook to find out more.

The DZ Crew have found and reported on a number of different species that have been revealed on our site. We can't currently reveal the location of these mysterious new dragons.

Are the dragons safe?

Dragons are fire breathing animals that are unknown in their behaviour. Here at Dragon Zoo we have now had three years experience with the dragons and have provided a safe environment for them to be observed by the general public. If you think you have found a dragons egg under no circumstances should you attempt to induce hatching and you should contact the zoo for assistance.

Does that mean I could find a dragon egg?

Yes! Lucy found one on her walk when she was just 13 and she wasn't even looking for one. That means you could too! We recommend that you do not search for any eggs and leave the egg hunting to the experts.

How do you explain where dragons have been?

This is a tricky one! We can only hypothesise that the last dragon was killed by our ancient ancestors thousands of years ago. Since that day the only existence of dragons were in the nests where their eggs were lost and abandoned over time. Since the eggs need warmth to induce hatching, the eggs have been waiting for heat (other than that of the sun) to hatch so dragons can walk the earth again.

How come the eggs weren't found before?

Because they look like rocks! Lucy has found it to be a natural gift to discern the difference between a common rock and a dragon's egg. Although even she has been known to make mistakes.
